The Department of Psychology at WCU is composed of 25 tenured and tenure-track faculty and serves approximately 1000 undergraduate majors and 100 graduate students across several programs. There are currently three other Industrial/Organizational Psychologists on the faculty. The Industrial/Organizational Psychology Master of Science program at WCU is designed for students who plan careers in business, industry, government, or other organizations. The program also prepares students for doctoral training in I/O and related fields. The MS program educates students in the field of I/O psychology through the rigorous study of practical problems facing organizations today and hands-on practical consulting experience.

Responsibilities include:

• Teaching graduate level and undergraduate level courses in I/O Psychology

• Advising and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students

• Working with other faculty in support of I/O Psychology Master’s and online I/O Certificate program.

Faculty will be required to teach courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels as needed by the department and consistent with their area of expertise. Graduate level courses will include people analytics, training and development, and psychometrics with an applied perspective. The typical course load involves teaching four courses per semester. In addition, the faculty member is required to maintain an active program of research involving students at both the graduate and undergraduate level.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D. in I/O psychology before the start of Fall 2022 semester

• An active program of research studying I/O-related topics as evidenced by a track record of recent peer-reviewed empirical research

• Experience teaching or training on I/O-related topics

• Demonstrated background in People Analytics

• Demonstrated commitment to mentor undergraduate and graduate students in I/O-related research

Preferred Qualifications

• Online teaching experience

• Prior teaching experience in People Analytics and/or Psychometrics

• Applied quantitative expertise

• Experience teaching I/O courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels

Candidates selected for on-campus interviews will present a colloquium to demonstrate effective teaching and research excellence. Review of candidates will begin on September 15, 2021 and continue until the position is filled. Applicants must successfully complete the interview process and colloquium to be considered finalists.
